Cookie Policy

What we set

One cookie of our own, and only once you have answered the notice. When you accept or reject, we store your answer in a first-party cookie named iac_consent. It records nothing but that answer, expires after six months, and is set whichever way you answer — it is how we avoid asking you again, and how we remember a refusal.

Nothing else is set unless you accept. If you reject, or simply ignore the notice, no analytics loads and no analytics cookie is created. There is no advertising pixel anywhere on this site, and no third-party tag manager.

Analytics

If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4, and only then. It tells us in aggregate which pages people read and how they arrived — so we can see that, say, our immigration guidance is being used and our fees page is hard to find. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not sell or share information about your visit.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies once loaded, named _ga and _ga_ followed by a string of characters. They hold a randomly generated identifier for the browser, not for you, and expire two years after your last visit. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms.

You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings at the foot of every page. That clears your stored answer and brings the notice back; declining then stops anything further being sent. To remove analytics cookies already on your device, delete cookies for this site in your browser. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

We use no advertising technology of any kind, so there is nothing of that sort to opt out of.

Embedded content

Two parts of the site load material from elsewhere, and those providers may set cookies of their own under their own terms:

• The map on our contact page is embedded from Google and loads with the page. Loading it is a request to Google, subject to Google’s privacy terms rather than ours.
• Client story and guidance videos load only when you press play, and from YouTube’s no-cookie domain. Until you press play, YouTube sets nothing.

The SRA digital badge at the foot of every page is a saved copy of the artwork the Solicitors Regulation Authority supplies, served from this site. It is not an embed and contacts nobody.

We embed nothing else — no social widgets, no comment systems, no chat scripts.

Server logs

Our web host keeps ordinary server logs — the address a request came from, and the page it asked for — for security and reliability. Those are not cookies, they are kept whether or not you accept the notice, and we do not use them to identify you.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you block third-party content such as an embedded map or video. Doing so will not stop you reading anything on this site; the map and the videos simply will not load.

Questions and changes
